Congratulations to ICO Fellow: Dr. Fabio Bondar

Congratulations to Dr. Fabio Bondar from Brazil on being awarded an ICO Fellowship. He will train under the supervision of Prof. Roberto Pineda at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, where he will gain specialised knowledge and practical skills in cornea and external eye diseases.

“I am really looking forward to being able to contribute to my community, patients and my institution, and I believe that an ICO Fellowship is an invaluable opportunity to learn from a state-of-the-art corneal service. I wish to elevate my knowledge in the field of corneal transplants, learn best practices and indications, as well as improve my practice and techniques. My ultimate goal is to provide high-quality eye care to our patients and to pass on the knowledge I acquire to our residents, ensuring continuity of care over time. I believe it will be a great opportunity to deepen my expertise so that I can positively impact our community and spread knowledge to the next generation of young ophthalmologists in Porto Alegre.”

Dr. Bondar joins over 1,250 ICO Fellows from 84 countries around the world who have been awarded a prestigious ICO Fellowship to date. Promising young ophthalmologists are given the opportunity to increase their knowledge and practical skills through training at ICO host institutions before returning to their home countries to improve eye care.
