Professor Tero Kivelä Receives the ICO Ophthalmic Pathology Award

The ICO is proud to recognise Professor Tero Kivelä as the 2022 recipient of the ICO Ophthalmic Pathology Award.

Supported by the Gottfried and Lieselotte Naumann Foundation, this prestigious award is presented every four years to an esteemed colleague for their outstanding research and contributions to the field of ophthalmic pathology.

Prof. Kivelä is Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Helsinki, and Chief Physician and Head of Ocular Oncology and Ophthalmic Pathology at Helsinki University Hospital. A bright leader in international ophthalmology, Prof. Kivelä was nominated for the ICO Ophthalmic Pathology Award by his peers and selected by the ICO to receive this well-deserved honour.

As the 2022 recipient of the ICO Ophthalmic Pathology Award, Prof. Kivelä will deliver the Naumann Lecture at the 2022 World Ophthalmology Congress® in September, in honour of the late Professor G.O.H. Naumann, a former President of the ICO.
